DUBAI, UAE — Meridian Ventures and Artificial Intelligence LLC-FZ today announced the appointment of Dr. Usman Zafar as Senior Board Advisor for C-Level Market Acceleration across the GCC and MENA regions. The appointment signals a significant step in Meridian Ventures’ regional expansion strategy as enterprise AI adoption accelerates across the Gulf.

Dr. Zafar brings over 20 years of advisory experience working with senior leaders across the Middle East and Africa, with deep relationships spanning private equity funds, government entities, enterprise accounts and C-level decision-makers across the GCC. He sits on advisory boards across the region and is a published author of two books on artificial intelligence and digital transformation: “Artificial Intelligence for SME Leaders” and “Digital Sovereignty: The Silent Battle for Data Control in a Borderless World.”

Meridian Ventures differentiates itself in a crowded AI market by going beyond deployment. The company maps how work actually gets done inside an organisation, builds AI agents that complete that work end-to-end, and then runs and continuously improves those systems in production. It is this post-deployment commitment that sets Meridian apart from vendors who hand over a system and move on.

“Most AI projects fail at deployment,” said Jose M. Rodriguez Oliveira, CEO and Founder of Meridian Ventures. “Usman deeply understands the decision-making structures within government and large organisations, and the complexities of working across these markets. He brings exactly the relationships and credibility that we need to put Meridian in front of the right people at the right level.”

Dr. Zafar commented: “The GCC is deploying AI at pace. The organisations that will win are the ones with the right operating model behind them. Meridian builds enterprise AI that compounds over time. That is a differentiated proposition and I am here to open the right doors.”

Dr. Zafar’s advisory mandate covers introductions to private equity funds, enterprise accounts and government entities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, with further MENA expansion planned.
